The thing I hate about this blog

I hate making excuses about my tennis game.  If someone was better than me, I can admit it and move on.  I’ve played plenty of people this year that are just plain better than me at the game of Tennis.  But because I use this blog as a documentation of my attempt to improve my tennis game, I’m starting to feel like this is just a dumping ground for excuses.  If that’s the way it’s coming off, I don’t intend for it to be that way.

Now, on to my excuse for today: I have an injury.  Somehow, I have strained a muscle right below my ribs on my left side.  It started hurting in my last serve game in my first round win last night.  I was able to finish that match out a couple minutes after I noticed the pain, but today was a different story.  In my match today, the pain was a factor from the beginning and it completely neutralized my biggest weapon – my serve.

When I did manage to get a good serve in today, I had trouble recovering to play the point.  As the match went on, it got worse and worse.  I thought about retiring, but I honestly thought that if the pain went away, I could come back.

Now, don’t get me wrong: my game is a bit of a mess and I gotta straighten out several things – injury or no injury.  But this was a win-able match today and this pain in my stomach definitely didn’t help.
